For US or Canadian residents, a Passport, Passport Card or Trusted Traveler Program Card that denotes identity and citizenship or other Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) documents are required to enter the British Virgin Islands. The same is required to re-enter the US from the BVI or other Caribbean islands.
European citizens need a valid passport to enter the British Virgin Islands. However, visitors that are residents of certain countries require a visa in order to enter the BVI. If in doubt about the necessity of a visa; contact the nearest BVI Tourist Board Office, the nearest British Embassy, or contact the Chief Immigration Department, BVI Government at Tel: (284) 494-3471 or 468-3701 ext. 4700.
The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative requires that the yachts file your passport information with Homeland Security no less than 24 hours before you enter BVI waters or re-enter US waters. The exact information required will be discussed during the booking process.
